Physical and Chemical Properties | As a recognition body of polyhydroxy compounds, 4-vinylphenylboronic acid has been paid attention by many researchers. 4-vinylphenylboronic acid is an electron-deficient group, which can not only form a borate bond with a compound containing a hydroxyl group or a catechol structure, but also coordinate with an amino group, a, electron-rich groups such as imidazole interact. Therefore, 4-vinylphenylboronic acid has been widely used in biomedical fields such as hydrogels, sensors, and cancer therapy. |

Preparation | The preparation method of this compound is similar to that reported by Dale and Rush. 44 4-vinylphenylmagnesium chloride solution (prepared from 2.026g of magnesium powder and 10.0 mL(11.6g,83.3 mmol) 4-chlorostyrene) was added dropwise to 120 mL of dried THF (cooled to -45°C) trimethyl borate (16.1 mL,14.7g,142 mmol) solution. After the addition is completed, the mixture is slowly heated to room temperature for more than 3 hours, and then quenched with 320 mL 3.0N HCl. Put the organic layer aside and extract the water layer with ether (2 x 100 mL). The organic phases are combined and concentrated in vacuum, 200 mL of water is added, and the mixture is heated to boiling. Decant the mixture and treat the residual solids with additional 100 mL, heat to boiling, and then decant again. Merge the supernatant and let it cool to room temperature, then store at 4°C for 4 h. The mixture was filtered, the solids were washed with water, and then dried overnight under a soft vacuum at room temperature to obtain white crystalline 4-vinylphenylboronic acid (11.90g,97%). |
